Justin’s Daytona NASCAR Tour Notes:
This is the only restrictor plate night race on the NASCAR schedule, and it’s amazing to see these NASCAR Cup Series cars racing under the lights here in Daytona Beach.
The travel time from the hotel to Daytona International Speedway is approximately 40 min via luxury motor coach, even in race traffic. We stay on the north side of Orlando, so our guests may take advantage of flights into either Orlando International Airport (MCO) – OR – Sanford International Airport (SFB). Sanford is usually a little less busy and easier in terms of traffic than Orlando International Airport.
Of course Daytona is one of my favorite race tracks. History has been made here, and every race fan should visit this track at least once. In November 2010, Daytona is underwent a repaving project which made the 2.5-mile tri-oval a better surface to race.
On race weekends, our charter buses park close to the location of our seats on the front stretch. For race fans, there generally isn’t more than a 10-minute walk required to get from one spot to another at Daytona. The grounds are pretty flat and easy to navigate.
Weather during the August race weekend in Daytona is usually warm with a high in the 90s and lows in the 70s.
More Daytona Information:
Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida is home to the August NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400 and NASCAR Xfinity Series Daytona 250 racing events. Each year, the 2.5-mile tri-oval superspeedway also hosts home of “The Great American Race” – the Daytona 500. To NASCAR drivers, a Daytona 500 win is the most coveted race win in NASCAR and is the race in which every driver wants to claim a historic victory before their racing career ends. Daytona International Speedway also claims the largest audience in motorsports with grandstand seating for 168,000 NASCAR racing fans!
Fans get close to the action at Daytona International Speedway in the fan-friendly Sprint Fan Zone. Race fans watch car inspections, get a view of race team garages and pay tribute to the tracks’ greatest drivers in the Goodyear Legends of Daytona exhibit. The Fan Zone pre-race pass allows fans to walk across the track surface, over the grassy Tri-Oval area and onto pit road to be a part of pre-race driver introductions. Fan Zone passes are included with all RaceAway Hospitality race weekend vacation packages for the Daytona 500 and are available with our August Daytona package.
Reviews
My husband and our son just returned from their first NASCAR race weekend at Daytona. They had a totally marvelous time! They found the accommodations at the Embassy Suites excellent, the seats provided a great view, the coach service was so easy but most of all, my husband was impressed with the attentiveness of the staff. This race experience was just what I wanted them to have! Thanks so much for everything and especially the knowledge that I gave my husband and son the best Christmas gift ever!
